ABOUT US

BRIGA COMBATIVES was born out of the necessity of a Reality Based Self Defense system in our Region. As Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Combat Sports like Muay Thai and Mixed Martial Arts grow bigger, some of the owners of these Academies aren't responsible enough to tell the public the difference between what they teach and REAL SELF DEFENSE. They sell Self Defense but they don't teach it!

My search for a real Self Defense System led me to Mr. TONY BLAUER and had been following him for a few years before owning my CrossFit Box gave me the opportunity to finally meet him. After meeting him and seeing his passion for everything he teaches I couldn't help but want to learn more about his System and as a Coach I got motivated not only to learn his stuff for myself, but to eventually teach it. So when he invited me to become a part of his Team I couldn't have been more thrilled and honored.

That's why here at BRIGA COMBATIVES we are committed to spread the word about our Coach Blauer System's effectiveness throughout Latin America.  With more than 30 years as the leaders in research and development of Close Quarter Tactics & Scenario-Based Training for law enforcement, military and professional Self Defense Instructors, BLAUER TACTICAL SYSTEMS (BTS) are the ONLY Reality Based-Self Defense System worth trying.

REALITY BASED SELF DEFENSE
Reality-based self-defense eliminates the unnecessary from martial arts, things like traditional ceremonies and katas have their place...in the Dojo. The techniques we teach are simple, practical and easy to learn, eliminating the need of years of practice to learn techniques that "might" work in a real confrontation.

Reality-based self-defense is also not mixed martial arts (MMA), which is a sport with defined rules and controlled environments. There are no rules on the street, no controlled environment. So training in clothing and at a speed and environment way different than what we'll encounter on a real life situation is useless.

Things like spinning kicks and complicated joint locks rarely appear in street fights, instead we concentrate on a few simple techniques based on gross motor skills, practiced in a realistic environment with actors and props. Adrenal stress is introduced. The focus is on the few skills that you are most likely to use in a conflict.

Blauer Tactical Confrontation Management Systems® research the startle/flinch phenomena and its link to the survival system’s withdrawal reflex has spawned one of the most important evolutions in close quarter training: the S.P.E.A.R. SYSTEM™, which utilizes the speed and reliability of the startle/flinch mechanism to convert the sudden attack into a tactical counter. Most importantly, this system will not interfere with your current training and in fact it is most easily used as a bridge to any complex motor skill transition.
The S.P.E.A.R. SYSTEM™ is a 'behaviorally' researched, close quarter personal defense method that utilizes the body's natural flinches and reactions to fear or violence and then converts these reactions into efficient tactical choices. Because the system is "Genetically wired and behaviorally inspired™", anybody can learn it and everybody can do it.

It is the result of over two decades of scientific research. The S.P.E.A.R. SYSTEM™ is so direct and efficient, it is currently being adopted by major law enforcement and military training units across the globe.

HIGH GEAR  SCENARIO TRAINING

The only way to test your timing, theories and spontaneity is by practicing force-on-force drills. Training can't just be physical, it must also address and develop the psychological & emotional side of a confrontation.

The Verbal Assault: You need gear that allows you to speak clearly (being verbal is critical in a realistic scenario depiction).
Realistic Mobility: You need to move freely and you want your role-player to move freely. (Bulky gear forces practitioners to develop tactics around the gear instead of around the fight.
Sudden Transitions from Range to Range: Gear must allow you to shift instantly as you would in a real fight (heavy gear slows down movement so that you develop timing to an unrealistic stimulus).
Ergonomically Realistic: You want gear that challenges you to make contact with a target as it would appear in the street (bulky gear distorts proximity sense and creates false sense of follow through because the bulk makes the slower target to you).
Impact Reduction Design: By providing feedback through contact and measured pain through 'threshold drills', HIGH GEAR™ allows you to fully engage and test your tactics.

HIGH GEAR™ is a proprietary training suit and only weighs 7.5 lbs. It can be used with any method of scenario-based training (marking-cartridge training, DT, combatives, self-defense, etc.). It is lightweight, provides full mobility and allows role-players to explode into action. HIGH GEAR™ is the most diverse training suit on the market, period.
